Hassian watches for new arrivals and surprised me by knowing my name when I first met him.
Hekla, Jina's companion, doesn't mince words. She outright stated that us humans arrival heralds alot of changes in Palia. The question is, good or bad. I hope the former. This place seems to tranquil to suffer the latter.
He cautioned me into treating nature carefully or he would show me how he rids the village of pests. *Gulp*
A few days later I received a letter from him. But when I spoke to him he explained that the town hall had asked him to sign the papers they dish out to newcomers. He explained that his mother was the town blacksmith and that the bow he gave me was in easy supply so nothing special.
He likes to be left alone so he can brood, well okay he said for thinking, but we all know he means brooding.
He explained to me that it is every Palian's duty to help maintain the balance of nature. Sernuk, while being the standard source of meat for generations is no match on the chapaa's who were bought into the environment from elsewhere and now are far too many and destroys that around them.
I met Hodari when Ashura sent me to grab a plot of land north east of the village. He runs the family run business Pavel Mining. He gave me a pick so I could chop some stones up. And a work table so I could start making stuff.
A short while later I bumped into him in town again and he gave me instructions on building a smelter so that I could turn the stone I had into bricks. He also mentioned the ability to increase the size of the land I had to work with by buying permits.
Jina was the first person I met when I arrived in this strange land from who knows where. My memory seems to be a blur in that regards. She explained to me that her companion Hekla is with her always.
She seemed to be quite the nervous gal, and asked me to come back and talk to her later once her head had stopped spinning.
When I did go back she explained to me that she is writing a thesis so that she can become a full scholar, which would explain why she was the first to greet me. Hopefully I can help her with her thesis, seeing as I'm human.
Kenli is the mayor of Kilima village. He's the son of the last Duke and brother of the current Duchess of Bahari Province. He seems to be almost incompetant at the role that I am suspecting was thrown at him and he wasn't given a choice. He did finally find the paperwork I needed to sign to get the house. I had to sign in 5!! places on 3 pages. Maybe I should have read what it all said.
Would you believe it, the other day he had the cheek to ask me to find the sandwich he had put down somewhere. With the most vaguest of descriptions as well. Oh well, I did manage to find it, but I'm sure it won't be the last time, and with the reward he gave me for finding it, maybe I won't complain as much about him.
Kenyatta appears to be the daughter of someone influential in the area. Maybe she will be a good source of information in the town, seeing as everyone will likely go to the town hall on a regular basis.
After some more conversation with her, it appears she tries to annoy her mother any way possible. I have a feeling she will get me to help her with those tasks.
She highlighted a piece of documentation that I might want to see into acquiring. But the title worries me. For a group of people that are so friendly and welcoming, how come there is a crime magazine? Could things be less friendly than it appears at first glance ? Hopefully Kenyatta will tell me more during our convesations.
His family runs the local farm. Sugarfoot loves carrots. He told me that he could teach me how to ride a Riffloc, whatever that is.
His introduction was a bit light on info but apparently I should go to him for soups and stews. So, thankfully Auni's was a little bit better.
Bugs apparently give him the heebie jeebies because of all those extra legs they have.
In her past she was apparently a famous monster slayer, in all the twelve provinces. Unfortunately, having only recently come out of a pink swirly void I had no memory of her exploits. I imagine she will want to tell me them in detail.
Once her son was born however, she decided to leave the dangerous world behind and now makes swords rather than wields them.
Tau is Hassian's hunting partner. An animal of a few words, the time I spent talking to him makes me feel like I can almost understand his words. I swear the other day he asked me to feed him.
Most of the time he is wherever Hassian is, but sometimes I find him doing his own thing in the middle of nowhere.
Tish and her brother have recently moved into the area as well. They used to live in a neighbouring town.
Tish popped by for a visit and gave me some instructions on how to make some furniture. She's friends with Jel the tailor who insisted she include a wardrobe too for clothes changing.
Zeki runs the General Store, but he's different to the others. I'll probably find out more about him as our conversation sessions increase and cover subjects other than buying from him.
A few non relevant conversations later and Zeki tells me about his *other* business. An underground market with a secret entrance. It appears he trusts me enough to give me a key so I can visit whenever I like. As long as I don't tell the magistrate of course.
The villagers seem to be very tight, but being families, that may make total sense. As more conversations with the npc's expand, hopefully these trees will.
